Acoustic Nights at 'The Meeting Place' May

In April we celebrated six years of Acoustic Nights @ the Meeting Place.

Last month (March) we hosted The Daddy Naggins - a young bluegrass band, which included our very own Hazel Finlay on Double Bass and vocals. There were queues to get into the church with ages ranging from 6 years to over 65’s and everything in between.

Musicians love to play here. They find a good listening audience, who enjoy the variety of entertainment and high musicianship. Some of the audience is made up of church members and members of the local community (in fact people are just finding out about it who live just around the corner from the church!) Others travel as far as Ayr, Kilmarnock, Dumfriesshire and Girvan.

The home-baking and tea and coffee are provided free of charge during the interval, allowing folk to meet the musicians and get to know one another.

Our grateful thanks go to the folk who turn up each month to put chairs out, provide baking, take donations at the door and help out in the kitchen. Also to the folk who agree to do floor-spots, further adding to the variety of entertainment each month.

Posters of forthcoming events are posted on the Meeting Place boards. Entrance is £5 (donation) which pays the band, the rest going to church funds. Children under sixteen go free. The evening finishes at 9.30pm with everyone having enjoyed a great sense of community and a special night in Stonelaw Church!

The May event on Friday 27th features THE DAPPER MCDANS.
