Disability access at Stonelaw

We don't claim this is perfect, but we are trying to do what we can. If you require assistance, have any questions, or identify any area where we are failing or could do better, please let us know.

Physical Access

Recently improved ramping at the front entrance of the church allows full wheelchair access from Stonelaw Road into The Meeting Place and the sanctuary beyond, all at the same level. The ramping is gradual and there is a single toilet in The Meeting Place.

There is full access to the halls, via ramping from Dryburgh Avenue. This allows full entry to the Mid Hall, Main Hall and kitchen area. There are toilets accessed from the Main Hall, with a dedicated disabled toilet available.

Unfortunately, there is no internal lift between the Hall and Sanctuary levels. Wheelchairs have to exit via the main door and proceed around the building to the Dryburgh entrance. However we are aware of the difficulty, and try to keep activities to one level. Coffee after services is offered in a cleared transept in the Sanctuary rather than at the hall level.

There is no disabled access to the balcony, or to the Session Room and Vestry behind the Sanctuary. However, use of these rooms is kept to a minimum, and any meetings will be relocated if required.

Hearing loop

There is a hearing loop in the Sanctuary which is used for all services.

Large print

During services, worship songs are projected onto a large screen in legible fonts and colours. Large print Bibles and hymn books are available at the door on request.
