Reachout Trust

For a number of years, Stonelaw has been one of a group of churches in the Cambuslang and Rutherglen area that support the work of the Reachout Trust.
The Trust's interdenominational work is focused on serving the young people of the area, by bringing to them the good news about Jesus. It works in partnership with Scripture Union Scotland. Over the last decade or more, it has employed a number of associate workers who have principally served in the local primary and secondary schools by assisting with assemblies, small groups, outings and generally being available to the school community. This has been greatly appreciated by the schools.
You can learn more about Scripture Union's associate worker scheme here.
As a congregation, we make a modest financial contribution to the Trust, and some of our members also support it as individuals. But money is really the least of it. It is also about prayer and a partnership with the Reachout workers to serve the young people in a whole variety of ways. A number of our members have served as trustees of Reachout.
Ross Murray

We are particularly delighted that the current Reachout worker grew up in Stonelaw Church. Indeed, his wider family are still very much involved.
Ross Murray returned to Rutherglen in 2008 to take up the challenge of Reachout. He's previously worked as a youthworker in a number of places, so he's got a wealth of experience. (Our minister has particularly appreciated sharing in the chaplaincy of Stonelaw High School with Ross, where both are former pupils.) Ross is married to Gail, and they have one young daughter.
So, with the best upbringing, church background, and education, we expect great things of Ross!
